Description

Nikolaihof Grüner Veltliner Hefeabzug 2022

The lightest Veltliner from Nikolaihof, named after the ageing process on light lees.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gruner Veltliner from the Wachau, Austria. Sourced from many different vineyards near Mautern, the Grüner Veltliner Hefeabzug is Nikolaus Saahs’ “Steinfeder” class.

Taste Profile: Extremely straightforward and young crisp Grüner Veltliner from Nikolaihof. Mineral, salty, light spiciness, great grapefruit acidity. All buffered with zesty passion fruit and sweet mango, with a hint of herbs & blond tobacco. Seems young and fresh at first, bright as well as delicately fragrant and has only slight yeasty notes

Winemaking Process: The wine was fermented spontaneously and bottled in April 2023. Before bottling, the wine was stored on fine lees for 6 months. In addition to 11.5 vol-% alcohol, it has 2.5 grams of residual sugar and 5.4 grams of acidity.
