Two Rivers

Two Rivers takes its name from the iconic rivers that feed the wine growing heart of Marlborough’s renowned Wairau and Awatere valleys.
It was in the Awatere Valley, overlooking the braided river, that founder and winemaker David Clouston spent his childhood. He now lives in the Wairau Valley, where he has made his home and his mark on the wine industry.

Founder and Winemaker, David Clouston

Growing up in Marlborough, David Clouston spent his youth in the Wairau and Awatere river valleys, where his family have farmed for five generations. Energetic and talented, his experience – hard-earned over 25 vintages worldwide – is the driving force behind Two Rivers.
After immersing himself in the sights, flavours and aromas of countries as diverse as the USA, Chile, Spain, France and Corsica, Dave’s desire to create inspiring wine on the home turf was realised and Two Rivers wines were born.

Their Mission

The Two Rivers mission is to harness Marlborough’s intense fruit flavours while producing elegant wines with purity and a sense of place. Their grapes are grown on the clay soils of their high density planted, Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys sub region of Marlborough. Together with several key sites across Marlborough’s two main valleys.
Winemaking techniques include natural fermentation, ageing in concrete egg tanks, large oak cuves, an assortment of French oak barrels and clay amphoras, as well as bottling wine unfined and unfiltered to retain complexity and texture.

Clouston & Co

Clouston & Co, circa 1895, was Marlborough's general merchant, trading and importing wine, wool, and agricultural supplies. Five generations later, David Clouston’s rich family history in Marlborough, New Zealand led to the creation of Clouston & Co wines in 2017. The Clouston & Co of today produces estate grown wines using New Zealand’s unique soil, climate, and pure aquifers. These three ingredients create a unique terroir producing grapes that are expertly crafted together with a family tradition of wine, 5 generations in the making.
