Glen Caughell, head wine maker
Glen began his Agricultural Business studies to become a brewmaster, but everything changed when he took a harvest internship at Wild Horse Winery & Vineyard. He was amazed at the passion, pride, artistry and almost endless potential for creativity that go into the winemaking process in the vineyards and winery. After graduating, he went back to brewing beer, until a chance encounter with the head winemaker of Wild Horse brought him back into the fold. Glen worked his way up around the entire vineyard and cellar to the lab, until 2018, when he accepted the position as the Bordeaux Winemaker for Robert Mondavi Private Selection.
In order for a wine to qualify as a varietal in the United States, it must be produced from 75% of that varietal. When crafting Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, vintners often blend in other grape varieties to achieve their desired style. At Robert Mondavi, their 100%s are exceptions. Their 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is made only with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and their 100% Chardonnay is made only with Chardonnay grapes – both picked at the peak of ripeness from California vineyards for a pure and full expression of these classic varietals.
The unique bourbon barrel-aging Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, Rum barrel-aged Merlot and Rye barrel-aged Red Blend bring together meticulous winemaking with the time-honoured tradition of aging fine spirits in oak casks. After the winemaker crafts the Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Red Blend, select lots are chosen to be aged in bourbon, rum or rye barrels, lending character and complexity of flavour and creating special wines to be savoured slowly.

Viticulture is one of the most ancient occupations in the town. This we learn from the investigators of this period, who had summarized the data yet still from the Thracian antiquity. There is no doubt, that Thracians had had a knowledge of the vine and wine and skillfully cultivated them
The multi-generational growers, whose descendants arrived here nearly two centuries ago, are the backbone of Torbreck’s winemaking aspirations. Without their knowledge of the seasons and the soil, we would not have such a precious resource of fruit to work with.
Cooper, originally from Santa Bárbara (California), discovered Spanish wines when he was only 21 years old, on one of the trips he made to Europe with his family. Since then, his personal and professional career has been closely linked to Spain, where he has lived for more than a decade. His first experiences as a professional in the world of wine were as a writer for the Spanish Wines and More blog, from which he advised many amateurs.
The Perano estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico in Gaiole and enjoys exceptional climate and soil. The vineyards are located 500 meters above sea level, well above the altitude common for red variety grapes, especially Sangiovese with its late maturation phase.
Luminosity and minerality with a touch of feminine elegance. A hidden gem, surrounded by sequoias, firs and chestnut trees which reveals itself to those travelling through the first woods of the Florentine mountains, with vines climbing to an altitude of 700 metres.
