Vignano Senio Chianti 2015
Vignano is the home of authentic bio-organic Italian wines proudly made by the fratelli Fanucci.
A solid chianti that will be versatile. Bright brick red colour with a hint of violet. The bouquet is an opening of intense spicy dried red fruits with traces of cherries, chocolate toffee and vanilla scone. The aromas follow through to the palate, which also reveals a light oak flavour and the presence of herbs such as mint, eucalyptus and cedar. Balanced with a dry yet fruity character, this savoury and juicy red closes in a smooth silky finish.
Vignano’s Senio Chianti comprises a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah. From vineyards in the Toscana DOCG appellation, the fruits go through careful selection and hand-picking. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barriques at a controlled temperature (max 22°C) for 3 months. The wine ages for 12 months in 2–5 years old Medium Roast French Oak barriques.
Fun fact: All the wines from Vignano are stamped with the Fanucci family crest, from 1362, on their bottles to signal their belief in the heritage that moulds their wine.
