Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore 2015
Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore bears a name that boasts almost a century of history. A name that stands for round tannins, great freshness and a strong link to the territory that produced it.
Ruby red colour with purple highlights. The complex bouquet reveals aromas of morello cherries, dried plums and notes of tobacco, vanilla and leather spice. The soft palate’s persistent flavours of red fruit are complemented by velvety tannins and a long savoury finish.
95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. After harvesting, the grapes arrive at the cellar where two different vinification processes begin. One part of the must goes through maceration for 7–8 days with a maximum temperature of 25 °C to maintain and enhance the grapes’ fruity aromas. The other more substantial part goes through a longer maceration period of 10–12 days at a temperature of 30 °C with gentle pump-overs to increase the complexity of flavours. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages on lees in stainless steel vats.
