Description

Patrizi Barolo DOCG 2015

This bottle of Patrizi Barolo is a developed, spicy Barolo in a meaty, full-flavoured yet approachable style. Intense ruby red, a spicy nose with notes of berry fruits, plum, wood smoke and leather. On the palate, it has spicy dried fruits characters with good concentration and hints of tar and meaty notes. It is intense and complex with a warm mid-palate, leading to a firm and structured finish. It is recommended to uncork a few hours before the meal and let it rest in the decanter before serving.

100% Nebbiolo grapes from South Piedmont, the grapes are grown in clayey-calcareous soil, which produces DOCG red wines. The harvest takes place in the third period and selected grapes are pressed with special equipment. The must is then sent to steel tanks where it is fermented for about 15 days at 27°C. During fermentation, the high temperature and long period allow the extraction of tannic elements and adequate acidity to form, making the bottle suitable for ageing.

The wine then undergoes a period of ageing for about 3 years, of which 2 years were spent in oak or chestnut barrels. During this period, the wine grows rich of the wood elements and gets rid of undesired substances that are eliminated by means of traditional oenological practices. Once the ageing period is over, the Barolo undergoes a wine-tasting test by a special committee, in order to obtain the government marks that guarantee the origin and quality. Bottling is only done after 3 years of ageing.
