Olivier LeflaIive Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Remilly” 2017
A bottle of wine fit for a ROYALS~~. Chardonnay lovers will be all over this wine, hiding bottles in their cellars, under the bed, handbags, wherever is cold enough really. Bright and light on its feet, this is a gorgeously spiced mineral Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s great producers and an exceptional Premier Cru terroir. Creamy and refreshing apple with notes of almond, cinnamon and vanilla spices. A fine and charming wine that evolves on fatness and richness with age.
The grapes are 100% manually harvested and brought to the cellar, where they are immediately and carefully pressed with a pneumatic press. Matured for 3 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 6 months in 100% oak barrels (20% of which are new oak). Ideally served between 10-12°C, this wine is best drunk between 2020 and 2024.
Fun fact: Olivier Leflaive’s wines were chosen by the British Royal family to be served at the wedding of Ms Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. So don’t hesitate to give yourself a royal-level treat!

“St Aubin Remilly Still tight and coiled like a spring, this is a wine with lots of power and intensity in reserve. Aged in 20% new wood. It’s an impressive interpretation of one of St-Aubin’s two most celebrated premiers crus. With mineral-edged acidity, some vanilla spice and a creamy mid-palate.” Tim Atkin, 2018

Clear pale colour, a fraction of reduction but very mild. This starts more slowly but the weight of fruit comes from behind. Fine intensity, ripe apple but with a good steely line behind.
