Louis Roederer Philippe Brut Nature 2012 Blanc
Bring your family and friends sparks of joy, sparks of pleasure – a fiesta! – with a drop of this gorgeous champagne. The Brut Nature is a reinvention of champagne, purer and more elegant than anything you’ve ever tasted. This champagne is born out of a partnership between Champagne House Louis Roederer and French designer Philippe Starck, a combination as unlikely as the Queen of England and Johnny Rotten. It’s a crash of royalty and punk.
“The 2012 vintage gave us the very best material: juicy, concentrated grapes with unusual levels of maturity resulting in rich, full-bodied wines worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne.” — Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master.
Golden yellow hue with flecks of green. Delicate and compact with gentle bubbles. Intense aromas of peach and candied lemons combined with toasty notes and hazelnut. Ripe fruit notes of baked apples, tarte tatin, caramelized spices and a hint of fresh wood and benozin. The palate is an attack that is at once juicy and textural. The gentle, velvety smooth effervescence coats the palate before giving way to a saline freshness and pleasant hint of bitterness. Its intensity overrides the round body to close in a clean, direct and remarkably pure finish.
The grapes grow exclusively in the Coteaux de Cumières and the wine comprises a blend of 55% pinot noir, 25% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. The grapes are meticulously gathered by hand and collected in buckets before being delicately pressed on the site of the harvest. The wine doesn’t go through malolactic fermentation and 15% of it is vinified in oak casks. No sugar.
AWARDS & ACCOLADES
This has a very fresh and pure, lemony nose and is completely mouth-filling. Then it freshens and composes and takes a fine, flinty, acidity-chiseled and dry ride to the finish. Super refreshing and saline. From biodynamically grown grapes – 55% pinot noir, 25% chardonnay and 20% pinot meunier. Drink or hold.
– 94 POINTS
The 2012 Brut Nature is rich, powerful and incredibly expressive. It is also the most complete Brut Nature Roederer has made, as it has less of the austerity of previous releases and more creaminess. Powerful and yet gracious, the 2012 has so much to offer. Dried flowers, chamomile, dried pear and mint are all laced throughout this sublime, wonderfully nuanced Champagne. The Brut Nature is a field bend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier taken from three parcels in Cumières and vinified together.
