Leoparodi Serra del Cerro Barolo Riserva 2010
Leoparodi Barolo Riserva has colour of garnet with orange shading. The flavour is intense and complex, with notes of black cherry, tobacco, dried mushrooms, pepper, balsamic and mint. They are complemented by sweet, velvety tannins and bright acidity. It tastes warm and smooth, with rich and long, persistent finish. Ideal with big red meat dishes and medium or mature cheeses. It’s also a great contemplative wine for after dinner.
100% Nebbiolo from vineyards planted in the 1980s with an altitude of 380 above sea level. The orientation is South / South-West facing and the soil is rich in lime, clay and grey-bluish marl. The grapes are manually harvested in the beginning of October and macerated for 10-15 days with skins at controlled temperature. There was frequent must pumping for ideal extraction of phenol content. Ageing took place in large oak barrels for a minimum of 4 years and minimally 12 months in bottles.
The wines are all the local produce of the Langhe, a land where the vineyards are the distinctive feature of a landscape now declared humankind heritage and the rolling hills remind us of sea waves. The territory is unique all over the world for both its shape and climate and the land is loved and passionately cared about in preserving the genuineness of the produce.
