Leoparodi Barbaresco DOCG 2014
“How true that in wine there is truth. I’ll tell you everything, no secrets.” — William Shakespeare (1564–1623).
The garnet red colour of this Barbaresco invokes a sense of intensity and mystery. Rich and lingering aromas of red forest fruit coax you down an enchanting path. Cherry and strawberry flavours are complemented by spicy notes, dried florals and even some wet stones. Graceful, accessible and structured. A rich and well-balanced palate with good acidity, freshness and a persistent ending.
Sourced from south and south-west facing vineyards planted in 1965, located 250–300m above sea level. Produced in the areas of Neive and Treiso in miocene-helvetian soils with calcareous marls. The grapes for this wine were manually harvested in the middle of October. Destemmed and crushed with soft pressing. 10–12 days maceration on skins at controlled temperature with a manual punching down and must pumping. A minimum of 2 years ageing in large oak barrels, followed by another minimum of 12 months ageing in bottles.
