Il Meridione Catarratto 2018
These white grapes are majorly and abundantly found in the region of Sicily, Italy. The Catarratto grape is the most planted wine grape in that region. Over the time, Catarratto has become one important contributor as to the wine lake problem of Europe. The wines made out of Catarratto taste a little tangy and entertain a flavor of lemon. Catarratto can be refined into a number of wines that are admired by almost all the wine lovers. This white grape is majorly used in the production of a variety of light and easy-drinking white wines ideally to be paired with a variety of meals.
Catarratto is mostly grown in the region of Sicily and considered one of the most planted grape variety in the entire region of Italy. This white grape is also an important ingredient of all kinds of Marsala wines and grape concentrate.
A delicious and characterful alternative to Pinot Grigio, from a very under-rated grape variety. This Sicilian grape is renown for body and earthiness and this wine delivers on both. Floral peach and tropical fruit aromas and a hint of fennel. Round and gently honey flavours on the palate balance by lemony acidity. Great as an aperitif too. We decided to go out on a limb and paired Il Meridione Catarratto 2018 with Chicken pink sauce Arrabiata fusion. It turned out surprisingly well!
Grapes are sourced from the Marsala area on the west coast of Sicily, and hillside vineyards near Alcamo. Gentle pressing followed by cool, slow fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. The wine is bottled young after a short period of ageing on fine lees in stainless steel.
