DOMAINE ELIAN DA ROS COUCOU BLANC DU MARMANDAIS
Coucou blanc is a blend of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon from Southwest, France. An atypical wine for the Marmandais region. Côtes du Marmandais is an appellation that is very similar to Côtes du Duras; both are located right on the Bordeaux border but are fairly obscure. Côtes du Marmandais differentiates itself by allowing non-Bordeaux grapes Gamay and Syrah to be included in the blends. Reds are much more common than whites, but white wine production is increasing in the area. All in all, this is a developing region and could become more well-known over the next several years. Generally, Côtes du Marmandais wines are good, and for the right price it’s difficult to go wrong. However, one wine producer has become especially notable in the last few years.
As Elian explains “COUCOU BLANC DU MARMANDAIS is a heritage from my time spent working in Alsace”. Aromas are very expressive with complex quince and floral notes. Floral nose, wide mouth with a fresh attack apples and pear aromas of apricot and dried fruit. Wonderful firm structure and truly elegant balance. That being said, this white is VERY aged, corky. If you’re have a palate that enjoys a wine like this, you’ll love it.
Organic and Biodynamic. Delicious with white meats and any dishes with saffron

“COU COU..” reminds us of Harry Styles “Cherry“, we think it pairs well with the wine too. Sitting by the balcony with a blanc in hand.
