Bodegas Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2014
One any good wine enthusiast should know.
Bodegas Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2014 is a classic textbook Gran Reserva that conveys its power in a delicate, subtle and most pleasant way.
Deep and dense cherry-red colour. Expressive bouquet with seductive red and black forest fruits, liquorice, leather and tobacco spice. The gentle, medium-bodied palate has a silky and fleshy texture, ripe tannins and a good acidity. Black bramble berry, dark plum, black cherry and red berry fruits mingle with layers of creamy oak, vanilla and earthy notes. A robust finish with a lengthy persistence and toasty nuances.
You can enjoy it today, but it will age beautifully over several years.
Top Tip: Decant for an hour before serving!
80% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano, 3% Garnacha Tinta and 2% Mazuela. The grapes grow in clay-limestone and alluvial soils at an altitude of 550 metres. The grapes for this wine come from selected plots in the Villalba de Rioja area, on south-facing slopes of the Montes Obarenes.
The Prado Enea crop is always the last to arrive at the winery. Manual harvesting of the grapes. Fermentation occurs in oak vats without temperature control or the addition of yeasts. Maceration lasts for 16 days and the wine then ages for 36 months in mainly French oak barrels. After ageing, the wine goes through a light fining with fresh egg whites before bottling. Finally, the wine ages in bottle for another 36 months in Muga’s cellars.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES
Really beautiful aromas of crushed blackberry, brambleberry, hazelnut, walnut and light coffee, following through to a full yet so reserved and polished body with fine, creamy-textured tannins. Fresh and exquisite finish. This is a much more refined and harmonic rendition of their classic wine. Drink or hold.
