Bodegas Muga Casa Conde de Haro Cava Brut Reserva 2017
A mythical sparkling wine with a fascinating lightness that makes it dance alive in the glass.
Bodegas Muga Conde De Haro Brut 2017 is a seriously good Cava that demonstrates the potential for quality in Spanish sparkling wine.
Pale yellow colour with fine, delicate bubbles. Gentle bouquet with green apple aromas, white flowers and a biscuity hint. Bodegas Muga Conde De Haro Brut is a complex and timeless wine that offers a refined and refreshing palate. Clean apple, toasty brioche and creamy notes come through with crisp acidity and an elegant finish.
70% Viura, 20% Malvasia and 10% Garnacha Blanca. These indigenous varieties of Rioja come from high elevation plots in the Sajazarra zone. These plots sit at an average altitude of 550 metres. These plots are north-facing to protect the grapes from high temperatures that can occur at the end of summer. It also helps to preserve the varietal aroma and high acidity of the grapes.
At the time of optimum ripeness, they begin manually harvesting the grapes. After a careful selection and gentle pressing, the must undergoes initial fermentation on lees in wooden vats. Bottle fermentation for 3–4 months at a controlled temperature of 10–11°C. The wine then remains in riddling racks for a minimum of 18 months to give it aromatic complexity and a smooth mouth feel. Disgorging by hand before final corking and its release to the world.
