Asenovgrad Mavrud Special Reserve 2015
Asenovgrad Mavrud Special Reserve has a deep ruby colour. The complex aroma is a ravishing combination of fruit notes, filled with blackberry, dark chocolate and spices. This bouquet has a full body with pleasant grain structure. The complex flavours complement the well-integrated tannins which is soft on the palate to bring out the elegance and layers of the wine. It has a medium length and pleasant lingering aftertaste. A wine for connoisseurs and lovers of traditional winemaking.
The vineyards are grown in moderate continental climate with several sunny days a year. The climate, the relief and the soil mannigiversity offer very good opportunities for viticulture and winemaking, especially suitable for growing red grapes.
The grapes come from the Asenovgrad vineyards. The grape pulp undergo cold maceration for 4 days at a temperature of 12-14°C. After maceration, it was heated to 24°C and cultivation of pure culture wine yeast. The fermentation was performed under controlled temperature and relative density. Lactofermentation happened at 18-20°C. The wine is then aged in French and American wine barrels 225 l of 10 months. Leveling, stabilization and storage.
Mavrud is a red wine grape that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines, indigenous to the Balkan region. It is regarded as one of the most highly esteemed local wines in the region.
