Millaman Winery

José Canepa, an Italian immigrant, bought Hacienda El Cóndor in Peteroa in 1946, thus starting his dream of producing the best wines of the Curicó Valley. In 1998, the desire to expand and perpetuate the winemaking tradition with his three daughters led to the creation of a new winery based on the Hacienda, giving rise to Viña Millaman. The centuries-old walls of the cellar were carefully restored and modern facilities were added. A new stage began: the family tradition along with an innovative spirit joined forces in order to express the best characteristics of the New World wines i.e. an explosion of fruity aromas, rich and lively flavors. This marked the beginning of Millaman and reflects the core of our company.

Like the cellar, the main vineyards are located in the Curicó Valley. However, when producing different wines, grapes from other estates located in other valleys are also used, in order to obtain the best expression of each variety.

Peteroa Estate, Curicó Valley

Peteroa is located 200kms South of Santiago. The climate is Mediterranean and is highly influenced by the Pacific´s anticyclone. The annual precipitation is of 600 millimeters and happens mostly during the winter. The summers are usually warm, with a big amount of solar light and cold nights which allow us to have high quality grapes. The proximity of the Mataquito River, which is bordering our 70 year old vineyards, creates a microclimate and balances the temperature. The soil is alluvial with different textures, created by the river, which leaves rocks, sand, gravel and basically clay. The main varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon blanc, Merlot and Chardonnay.

San Jorge Estate, Curicó Valley

It is located in Los Niches, a pre-mountain chain of the Curicó Valley. The Estate has 73 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, some of them older than 45 years. San Jorge is characterized by delivering wines of great elegance, personality and power given by its tannins, which unlike many, are combined in a unique balance.
The annual precipitation ranges from 750 to 850 millimeters, concentrated in the winter season with some precipitation in the spring. The summers are of moderate temperatures, with a marked influence of the mountains and high thermal amplitude.
Most of the vineyard is located in Piedmont configuration, on slopes of more than 15º, which enables solar light to be used and therefore use the best canopy work.

Caperana Estate, Maipo Valley

This Estate is located in Isla de Maipo, denominated as "Entre Cordilleras" (“Between Mountains”). It is distinguished by annual precipitations ranging from 450 to 550 millimeters, concentrated in the winter season. It has warm and dry summers with great thermal amplitude and a slight maritime influence. In this Estate, we can find three types of soils: deep and rich, stony, and sediment soils resulting from the formation of artificial reservoirs in the Maipo River. The latter provides additional complexity to our grapes. The main varieties obtained here are Zinfandel and Shiraz.
The packaging plant with a capacity of 3,500 bottles/hour is located in this Estate. From here, all the products are distributed both to the national and international markets.

Cellars

The wine cellar, with walls of adobe of more than 100 years, was carefully restored preserving the Chilean colonial style. This marks the birth of Millaman: combining the family tradition and wine heritage of the area with modern technology.

With a capacity of one million liters, it is designed to produce the highest quality wines and to handle small batches of grapes in stainless steel tanks of 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 liters.

The underground cellar has a storage capacity of 250 barrels where our high-end lines are aged. From each harvest, witness bottles are kept in order to maintain the standards of quality and consistency of the future harvests.
