La Palazzetta

"At La Palazzetta, one can breathe an air of pure beauty and genuine simplicity that makes you feel at home."

La Palazzetta is a small, family-run winery located 365 m above sea level on the South-East side of Montalcino. The winery has 20 hectares of vineyards and 2,500 olive trees. The production of Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Sant'Antimo Rosso DOC and extra-virgin olive oil increases the value of the local area and preserves the land's yearly produces. The climate is ideal for vine cultivation with mildly cold winters, hot summers, rainy and humid springs and autumns. The vineyard's limestone and rocky soil produces fruit that results in fragrant wines with intense colours, pleasant acidity and tannins.

The La Palazzetta Family

The family's lineage dates back to a time when carriages filled the streets and the great-grandfathers in Castelnuovo dell'Abate were farmers cultivating grains. Flavio and Carla began making wine in 1988 with just one hectare of Sangiovese. Nowadays, their children Luca and Tea continue the narrative of a family that has honoured and loved the land for generations.

How they make their wines

The vineyards are tended to with great care and organic farming methods. With 30 years of wine making experience under their belts, tradition and innovation lead their handpicked grapes to the natural process of vinification. The wines are fermented at controlled temperatures and aged in French oak barrels.

In 2016, La Palazzetta was awarded the “Ecofriendly Cellar Diploma” because of their commitment to producing healthy wines for consumers and their ecologically sustainable values. They have also realised plans for energy saving and projects aimed at protecting the land and vineyards.

Their olive mill

Their olives consist of five typical tuscan varieties: Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo, Pendolino and Correggiolo. The olives are handpicked before complete maturation and processed in-house the same day. Cold-pressed and natural decantation before bottling maintains the precious character of fresh pressed olive juice.
