First Drop Wines

Conceived in 2004 by two friends who wanted to make wines with flavour, texture and a splash of funk!
Based at the ‘Home of the Brave’ in the Barossa, First Drop is making wines with flavour, texture and a splash of funk.

Conceived in 2004 by two friends, English-born Matt Gant and Australian John Retsas, who desire to make wines to drink, not just appreciate. We love the fact that their approach to wine is a combination of playfulness and seriousness about vineyard sites.

First Drop is all about passion for life, fun and flavour. Their wine making philosophy is a sensibility for tradition and a passion for innovation. Basically, they’re serious about the booze and want to have fun whilst doing it.

Together, they’re making an eclectic variety of wines sourced from unique vineyards in the great regions of the Barossa Valley: the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Barossa. Bringing you a diverse, deliciously exciting and thought-provoking line-up of flavours.

Seriously fun!
