A brief moment can turn into something unforgettable. El Coto de Rioja wants you to be part of those moments that you will remember forever. Small details for big occasions. Wine is to share, to enjoy, to celebrate. But each moment is unique. It can be an everyday moment or an exceptional event, a meeting, a meeting or a farewell. And all that El Coto de Rioja wants, is to offer you a wine that is at the height of each of those unforgettable moments.

The vineyard is the main source of quality for the wines. For this reason, the commitment of El Coto de Rioja, has been the goal of having as many vineyards as possible. In this way, they can guarantee the quality of our wines year after year. The El Coto de Rioja vineyards are distributed throughout all the sub-areas of the Rioja Denomination of Origin. The use of traditional autochthonous varieties and the new authorized ones allows us to maintain all the typicality of Rioja in our wines.

In addition to the great existing heritage of the old vineyard, among the estates owned include Carbonera, the vineyard planted at the highest altitude in Rioja (840 m), is ideal for growing white varieties, and Finca Los Almendros, which with its 450 hectares is the largest vineyard in the entire Denomination. In Rioja Alavesa, El Coto de Rioja has vineyards in Elvillar de Álava, Yécora and Oyón. They are mostly old vineyards, sheltered by the Sierra de Cantabria and divided into small parcels of land, as is traditionally representative throughout the region. In Rioja Alta, the owned vineyard is centralized in Cenicero and its surroundings. Although closer to the valley, they are also vineyards at a certain altitude, which mainly guarantees long hours of exposure to the sun.

Each process in the development of the wine is carried out with the utmost care. That is why El Coto de Rioja is organized as if it were twelve small wineries. Each one with the optimum conditions for its job, where each part of the process is handled independently. The vinification is carried out in small tanks that do not exceed 50,000 liters and all the red wines are aged in oak barrels, which are replaced annually. This is the only way to ensure that the work in the vineyard produces the results desired.

Ménage à Trois Wines

When the boldly curious founders decided to “experiment threely” and blend together a luscious threesome of distinctively different grapes into one wine, they knew it needed a name that would live up to this innovative, provocative blend. They called it Ménage à Trois. Not just because it was a revolutionary three-grape blend, but because like its taste it deserved a name that would never blend in.

Cakebread Cellars

Over the years, the Cakebread emerge from various difficulties such as vines dying from phylloxera. They’ve also built their library and started producing wines from more varietals – Merlot, Pinot Noir, Rubaiyat, etc. Expansion of their winery has also began as they start purchasing adjacent wineries and vineyards.
