Ceretto

The first estate-owned vineyard in Bricco Asili was purchased (Barbaresco – 1969) and the eponymous winery was built (1973). The winery I Viganioli di Santo Stefano was created for the vinification of Moscato d'Asti (1976), and continues to be used today.

Careful pruning, bunch-thinning and sorting during the harvest are the cornerstones of the work in the vineyards, also organic (the Company is in conversion). The decanting, fining and filtration are reduced to a minimum to protect and enhance the grape’s aromatic properties. I Vignaioli wanted to reinvent the image of the bottle; Bersanetti, one of the greatest Italian designers, created a tall and thin bottle with a unique label that resembles a crescent-moon Pavesian memory.

Promoting the wines and unique characteristics of the Langhe, defending the soil and the terroir - that's the mission of the Ceretto family. And they have done this, for over 80 years now, starting with the brothers Bruno and Marcello Ceretto chasing their quest to select vineyards in the most valuable positions historically.

They began dreaming of labels bearing the name of the vineyard and also its image: "so whoever drinks that wine can see the vineyard from which it has originated. The vineyard is history, the names of the hills remain, unchanged over time, enhancing the quality and credibility of the wines produced here. You can search out, visit and physically touch a vineyard… always." In 1986, Wine Spectator, perhaps the most influential American magazine in the world of wine, puts the two Langhe brothers on the cover calling them the Barolo Brothers

Even to this day, their children carry forth the business. Federicco puts forth that “More than just a job, ours is a passion. One things for certain - the method laid out by my father Bruno: let the customers live our culture and learn about the beauty of our land, the Langhe ”.

Their vineyards are managed through organic farming, which avoids overusing natural resources, continuously analyzing and monitoring according to a model of sustainable development that can last over time, in full respect of man and nature. The organic management, and in some cases biodynamic, was strongly supported and implemented by Alessandro Ceretto, who in 2010 decided to undertake this endeavour and who saw the wines obtain with the vintage 2015 organic Certification.
