Casa Rojo

FROM THE REVOLUTION TO ORIGIN

Casa Rojo was founded in the year 2009 by the husband and wife team José Luis Gómez and Laura Muñoz, the enologists and directors of Casa Rojo. Casa Rojo was born without its own winery or vineyards, it was born as a dream. An itinerant winemaking project, without limits or family restrictions, but with the desire and conviction of being a new form of free enology.

In just seven years, Murcia-based winery Casa Rojo has made a name for its wines internationally thanks to their award-winning, exceptional quality; as well as the wines' colorfully artistic labels and witty names like Alexander vs. the Ham Factory, The Invisible Man, MachoMan Monastrell and The Orange Republic, among others.

Named one of the "100 Best Wineries in the World" by Wine&Spirits magazine in 2014, Casa Rojo's main pursuit is this expanding collection of The Wine Gurus wines, which serves as an ambassador for some of Spain's most diverse and important wine regions. In each of these carefully-chosen regions, the emphasis is on native grape varieties, limited productions and capturing the essence of the particular terroir. Not for nothing, the wines have received international acclaim, with the majority of production currently exported to over forty different countries.

They made wines with the varietal that they felt in love with and traveled to the different wine corner as far away as they wanted. Imagination is set free and they elaborated eight wines throughout Spain, using native grapes that showed the different profiles of wine-growing wealth. Thus THE WINE GURUS were born, and people liked them. It was then when the history of CASA ROJO began.

In 2015, after six years of frenetic enological activity and constant learning, Casa Rojo set roots in the unique Paraje de La Raja, a dreamy fertile valley located between Sierra del Carche and Sierra de La Pila, in the Altiplano of the Murcia Region, where the second stage of life began.

Today Casa Rojo has 23 hectares of Monastrell, Garnacha and Syrah. They are currently working on nine projects, making wine out of grapes selected in vineyards in Rías Baixas, Valdeorras, Bierzo, Rueda, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorato, Cava and Jumilla.
