Bodegas Krontiras

Krontiras winery is located right in the middle of the hills of Luján de Cuyo, in the province of Mendoza. Awed by the majestic landscape of Luján de Cuyo and its resemblance to their homeland (Greece), Constantinos and Silvina Krontiras decided to acquire this plot of 80-year-old vineyard in 2004. They launched their Bodegas Krontiras project with the aim of offering a distinguished natural expression of the Mendoza terroir.

The Winery

The winery is naturally integrated with their Lunlunta vineyard. The building’s architecture is inspired by biodynamic principles based on ancient “sacred geometry”. The winery focuses on the production of natural wines through organic and biodynamic farming, letting nature do its work. Only wold and natural yeasts are used, with minimal intervention in their winemaking process. The resulting wines are a style of lesser-seen in Argentina, and a joy at the dinner table.

Vineyards

The winery has two vineyards: Lunlunta and Villa Seca.

The Lunlunta vineyard is located in Luján de Cuyo and experiences gentle breezes in the early mornings that descend from the Andes following the Mendoza River to embrace their 120-year-old Malbec and Tempranillo vines. The vineyard is also home to fruit trees and their small farm with cows, sheep, horses, donkeys and llamas. The vineyard has an altitude of 900 metres, with organic certification since 2009 and biodynamic certification since 2012.
The Villa Seca vineyard is located in Maipú. Young and vigorous, this vineyard boasts a microclimate with cool nights and very hot days that favour the organic and biodynamic cultivation of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Agliáncio and Chardonnay. It sits at an altitude of 700 metres, with organic certification since 2009 and biodynamic certification since 2012.
