“I’ve tried every gin on the planet and Aviation is, hands down, the best. Also, I don’t recommend trying every gin on the planet. Stick with this one.”
– Ryan Reynolds, Co-Owner, Aviation American Gin.
Founded by Christian Krogstad and Ryan Magarian in 2006, Aviation gin takes its name from the Aviation cocktail, which was created in the 1900s by well-known bartender Hugo Ensslin.
Aviation American Gin was produced and manufactured by House Spirits Distillery. House Spirits Distillery sold the brand to Davos Brands, LLC, of New York in 2016, but House Spirits continues to be the gin’s distiller with production in Portland, Oregon. Actor Ryan Reynolds acquired a stake in the brand from Davos in February 2018 and has since become the face the brand.
In August 2020, Aviation was sold to Diageo, whose liquor lineup includes the gin Tanqueray, Smirnoff vodka, and Johnnie Walker Scotch whiskey. Diageo has stated that Reynolds will maintain an ongoing ownership interest in Aviation, much to the delight of us lady fans.
